Hey! I’m Tanish. I’m starting a DPhil in Engineering Science at Oxford through the Meta AI PhD Program, supervised by Jakob Foerster and João F. Henriques. I studied EECS at UC Berkeley, where I worked with Dr. Jitendra Malik at BAIR.
I’ve spent the past two summers doing quantitative research at GSA Capital, while my main focus is AI research. I’m interested in new architectures, objectives, and pretraining methods that help models learn efficiently, scale, and generalize. I’m especially excited about applying these advances to scientific discovery and education. I want my research to make a positive difference in the world.
I love learning and picking up new things. Outside of research, I enjoy trying new restaurants and coffee shops in London and SF, coffee and cocktail making, going to the gym, and getting lost in a thriller novel.
I just finished a gap year visiting 12 countries. I’ve recently gotten into film photography and am looking for a secondhand digital camera. My favorite way to relax is watching animals and birds. They make me feel grounded and give me a break from everything else.
